The comparison that's really a fork in the road
This page is less 'us vs them' than most: forward2me is a genuinely good, well-reviewed forwarder — from the countries it operates in. France isn't one of them. Its hubs are in the UK, Germany, Japan, Turkey and the US. If the store you're shopping is French — Sézane, City Pharma, Vinted France, a Paris pharmacy — a UK or German address doesn't help: French stores' free or cheap delivery is domestic, many won't ship cross-border at all, and routing France → Germany → USA adds a leg of cost and days.
Why the warehouse country decides everything
Package forwarding works because the first leg is domestic: the store treats you like a local. Domestic French delivery is often free above small thresholds; cross-border EU delivery rarely is, and marketplace sellers on Vinted or Leboncoin almost never ship outside France. A French address in Commercy makes every French store, marketplace seller and pharmacy reachable at local rates — that's the entire game, and it can't be replicated from Berlin or Kent.
Where we're deliberately narrower
forward2me's carrier menu (DHL, UPS, FedEx, DPD…) and 30-day free storage beat our single-carrier, 15-day model on paper. That narrowness is a choice: one FedEx express lane, France to the USA, means every process — customs paperwork, DDP duty inclusion, transit expectations — is optimized for exactly one route instead of averaged across hundreds. If you need forwarding from Japan or the UK, use forward2me; we'd genuinely rather you get the right tool.
Duties: the DDP difference, again
Most international forwarders ship DAP: the courier assesses US duties on arrival and bills you, adding a brokerage fee. With the US de minimis exemption gone, that's now a bill on virtually every parcel. VoilaShip quotes DDP — estimated duties are in the price you see before paying. When comparing any forwarder's rate against ours, add their eventual duty-plus-brokerage line to make it apples to apples.
forward2me vs VoilaShip — FAQ
Does forward2me offer a French address?
No — as of mid-2026, forward2me's warehouses are in the UK, Germany, Japan, Turkey and the US, with no French location listed. For French stores that only deliver domestically, a France-based forwarder like VoilaShip is the direct route.
Could I ship a French order to forward2me's German warehouse?
Sometimes — if the French store ships to Germany at all, you'd pay its cross-border delivery, then international forwarding from Germany with duties on arrival. For most French orders, the extra leg costs more than shipping directly from France with duties included.
Is VoilaShip better than forward2me overall?
Wrong question — they barely overlap. For France → USA, we're purpose-built: French address, FedEx express, all-in DDP pricing. For forwarding from the UK, Japan or Germany, forward2me is an excellent choice we don't compete with.
